Adorno Activity Club
Providing a vibrant and joyous environment for older people with dementia
We Can Help
When the first covid-19 lockdown was announced in March 2020, services providing short breaks for full time carers closed down and support networks and groups weren’t able to operate in person. Some moved online but the stimulation that services such as Day Centres provide to older people as well as the respite for carers could not be replaced.
Adorno Activity Club have successfully launched at community based venues in Winterbourne, South Glos & Bedminster, Bedminster, Bristol and have plans to expand their capacity to accommodate more people.
We can’t emphasise enough the joy seen in our clients faces when taking part in our group based activities at our activity club. It’s been such a tough year, but for older people, particularly those with a cognitive impairment, it has been impossible to maintain contact with their normal social circles. We have had new friendships flourish and it’s magical to witness.
Our Activities
Activities which clients can take part in include; visits from therapy pets, intergenerational events, board games, gardening club, ice creams in the sunshine, air hockey, pool, bingo, pottery, chair based exercise, oil painting and much more.
We have experienced an significant uptake in bookings as word of our service has spread and it has become clear that there is a real and urgent need for Clubs such as ours.
Areas We Cover
Adorno Activity Clubs first opened their doors in May 2021 and have been providing essential respite care to primary caregivers, while at the same time offering clients the opportunity to enjoy and participate in different activities each week and to interact with and meet new friends.
After a difficult year for everyone it has been rewarding to see so many people benefit from the opportunity to leave their homes and enjoy hobbies again.
The Club runs 10am to 2pm at the following venues:
Tuesday – Windmill Hill City Farm, Bedminster, Bristol
Wednesday – Greenfield Centre, Winterbourne, South Glos
